Its official Stockton has the lowest crime rate in the Tees Valley!

Stockton is officially the safest place to live in the Tees Valley, a reassuring and promising statement for all residents across the borough.

According to new recorded crime stats, Stockton falls 21.3% below the regional average and a whopping 47% below Middlesbrough. Despite Stockton being the largest district in the Tees Valley and with a population increase of over 11,700, over the last 5 years the total crime rate for the Stockton Borough has not increased but considerably reduced by 34%.

Encouraging and award winning efforts from the crime prevention teams of Cleveland Police, Stockton Borough Council and the Fire Service all contribute to Stockton's winning success in clamping down on crime, there have been over 6,000 less victims of crime for this year alone!

In 2003/04 the total crime rate per 1,000 population was 114.3 but for 2008/09 this stands at 75.6. Continuous support from the Safer Stockton Partnership will endeavour to ensure residents remain safe and in good hands for many years to come.
