STOCKTON Council and Cleveland Police have secured a five year Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) against a Stockton man at Teesside Magistrates.
The Order was granted against 52 year-old Paul Thompson whose last known address was Durham Road, Stockton following a series of drug and anti social behaviour offences.
Magistrates granted the Order with the following prohibitions:
- Behave in a manner which causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not of the same household as himself
- Incite or encourage any other person to act in a manner which causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not of the same household
- Behave in a manner that intimidates or seeks to intimidate one or more persons not of the same household
- Provide or offer to provide any prescription or non prescription medication or drug to any person except in the case of medical emergency
- Enter three areas of Stockton, Thornaby and Billingham.
Councillor Steve Nelson, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Housing and Community Safety, said: "Anti social behaviour and drug offences will not be tolerated and we have been working closely with Cleveland Police for some time now to secure this Order.
"Members of the public have had their lives blighted and we are grateful for their support statements which helped us secure this Order."
Stockton Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Steve Young said: "The hard work of Stockton's Neighbourhood Policing Teams, the local authority Anti-Social Behaviour Team and the local community has ensured that Paul Thompson's behaviour is stopped. The Anti-Social Behaviour Order will ban Thompson from areas of Stockton, Thornaby and Billingham.
"The result of this ASBO should send out a strong message to those intent on ruining the lives of residents in Stockton, that police will not tolerate this behaviour and you will be brought to justice. We also hope that this sends a message to communities blighted by such behaviour that police and the local authority will take strong action to stop such activity and to prevent it from happening again."
