What is Think B4U Drink?
The Think B4U Drink campaign was launched in October 2005 and has been running for six years with approximately one campaign each year. The campaign aims to raise awareness surrounding all aspects of alcohol awareness including: units and safe drinking levels, alcohol related crime, violence and anti social behaviour and risk taking behaviours. The campaign also focuses upon health related issues and has a wide target audience.
Currently to date we have focused upon:
- Young people (highlighting the damages of drinking alcohol at a young age and taking a social norm approach making young people aware that its not the norm to be drinking alcohol)
- Domestic violence ( victims and perpetrators
- Working professionals and manual labourers
- Binge drinkers
- Vulnerable adults and young adults (clubbers- highlighting the risks on a night out i.e. taking an unlicensed taxi home, fighting, unprotected sex etc.)
- Violent crime
Who makes up the Think B4U Drink group?
Representatives from the police, North Tees PCT and the council’s community safety, trading standards and licensing and marketing form the main campaign planning and development group. This group works with partners within the road safety team, environmental health, fire service, preventions team and local support agencies such as Harbour and educational facilities such as Durham University and secondary schools to develop and deliver new messages.
The campaign continues to grow and develop in response to changing local priorities and concerns, it has won a number of awards and has been put forward as an example of good practice buy the Home Office.
So what has Think B4U Drink Produced?
The campaigns current and past have been formed from various materials including:

- Beer mats
- Promotion materials such as; pens, lip balms, goodie bags, mobile phone socks
- Leaflets
- Magazines
- Z cards
- Bar runners
- Floor stickers
The campaign has featured in a number of media settings including:
- Cinema adverts and theatre slides
- Bus stop ad shells
- Bill boards
- Bus headliners and runners
- Television
- Radio
- Launch events at Teesside park and High Streets including; Stockton and Yarm
- Various public houses and public/ workplace buildings, kirklevington prison and schools across the Stockton Borough.
