Drug use is a concern for everyone and a new development is helping the Council and our partners to tackle the problem more effectively.
The Stockton Drug and Alcohol Action team (DAAT), which helps people get off drugs and into treatment, has merged with the Safer Stockton Partnership (SSP). The two groups can now pool resources and share information, leading to improved drug intervention programmes, treatment and, where it's needed, police action.
Marilyn Davies, Community Safety Manager, said: " This is a really exciting time for us. We know how devasting drugs can be for families and communities and, by merging the DAAT and SSP, we can work more efficiently and really provide the resources people need to kick drugs out of their lives.
"It's important to recognise the impact the DAAT has made in identifying and engaging those drug misusers who are the most problematic in the Borough. It helps users reduce the harm associated with drugs to themselves, their families and the wider community. We're confident we can continue the great work achieved and build on this success"
