Community Safety
The Community Safety Team is based in the Community Protection Division of Development and Neighbourhood Services within Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and works in partnership with the Police, Fire, Health and other key agencies to develop projects and initiatives to deter and reduce crime.

Beacon Council
We were awarded Beacon status for effective partnership working in 2004. Throughout the year we held a number of sessions and two seminars to promote the best practice that earned us this award.
In 2005 the IdeA asked us to work with them to provide a Peer Mentoring service to other local authorities across the country. We have completed three such reviews in Wyre Borough Council, Rochdale Borough Council and Leicester City Council.

Current Community Safety Initiatives
We need to achieve the targets set within the Community Safety Plan 2008/2011. The target for other Theft is an emerging issues target identified by the Partnership's Strategic Assesment, the other five targets were identified by the public.

Every three years we produce a Crime and Disorder Audit and following public consultation we produce a Community Safety Plan to advise you how we intend achieving the targets in crime reduction, based on the key objectives identified from the consultation.
